* Exercise increases appetite.
     Moderate exercise tends to decrease, not increase appetite. Prolonged strenuous exercise does increase appetite, but the added calories are used for energy, not stored as fat.

* Any exercise benefits the heart.
     Only activity that increases the pulse rate to at least 70 percent of maximum for 20 to 30 minutes and is repeated two to five times a week will do much good.

* Nonporous (rubber or plastic) warm-up suits help in wight loss.
     Your body maintains a core, or inner, normal temperature during exercise by the evaporation of sweat. Nonporous suits prevent evaporation, forcing the body to sweat more - a condition that may result in dehydration, heat exhaustion, or more serious complications.

* I'm too old to exercise.
     Anyone of any age or physical condition, even quadriplegics, can benefit from exercise. A moderate exercise program retards the conditions usually associated with aging.

* I haven't the time.
     Every person is allowed eight hours of "play" per day. Some corporations have discovered the relationship between an employee's fitness and his productivity and are providing facilities and time for exercise during the work day. Even housewives, whose "work is never done", can incorporate fitness activities into their day and may find themselves so invigorated that chores go easier.

* It takes a marathon to work off a pound.
     True. But if you run half an hour a day, three days a week, you will lose 15 pounds a year. If you walk briskly 30 minutes everyday you can lose up to 20 pounds a year.

* I'm too tired to exercise.
     On the contrary, exercise relieves fatigue, stress, and tensions.
