Exercise will be more fun and more beneficial if you ask neither too much of yourself nor too little. That's one reason to learn before you start just how fit you are.
The first and most important component of dynamic fitness to measure is cardiorespiratory efficiency. Approximately one in 10 middle-aged men have "silent" heart disease and might be harmed by overexertion. Anyone might have an unrecognized heart condition, but you should be particularly concerned if:
* You have ever had a heart disease before;
* You have the "risk factors" for heart disease, high blood pressure, overweight, a family history of heart disease, diabetes, high blood cholesterol level, or a cigarette-smoking habit.
* You have ever suffered chest pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness following physical activity.
* You are more than 30 years old and have not been physically active for years.
Under any of theses circumstances, you should definitely have a doctor's approval before starting an exercise program.
